Physical, occupational, and speech therapists are part of the Sheltering Arms Institute team and provide inpatient and outpatient therapy services. Team members who provide fitness and recreation services are certified exercise physiologists or recreation therapists, not licensed physical therapists.

Yes, the fitness and wellness programs at Sheltering Arms are open to the public; you do not need to be a prior patient of Sheltering Arms Institute to participate.

Therapy services require a prescription from your doctor and, once you are enrolled in therapy services, a licensed therapist will be your provider; your exercise physiologist is unable to provide therapy services.

A doctor’s referral is not needed; however, medical clearance to exercise may be requested from your doctor if any concerns are identified during your evaluation related to your medical history or response to exercise

Our fitness, recreation, and wellness services are cash based and are not covered by insurance. Additionally, we do not accept workers’ compensation. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.

Please note: Inpatient and outpatient therapy services are offered by Sheltering Arms Institute. For a list of accepted insurance plans for therapy services, please click here.

Sheltering Arms is a parent company of Sheltering Arms Institute; therefore, your exercise physiologist can see plans of care and therapy notes for all individuals referred through Sheltering Arms Institute. Additionally, our exercise physiologists regularly communicate with referring providers both inside and outside of our organization regarding your care plan.

Memberships can be placed on hold by submitting a hold request form to the health and wellness manager. Accepted reasons for placing a membership on hold include medical procedures and/or hospitalizations documented with a physician’s note, financial hardship, or life-altering events; general illnesses do not qualify for membership holds.
