The Sheltering Arms Difference
We believe in the potential of every individual challenged by disability to lead an active and engaged life. That is why we offer a range of adaptive and medical fitness services as well as a day recreation program that extends the continuum of therapy services provided by Sheltering Arms Institute.
Our adaptive and medical fitness services are led by certified exercise physiologists who have expertise working with a range of neurologic and musculoskeletal conditions. They tailor programs to meet every individual’s health and wellness needs, implementing advanced technology as needed. Services are provided in a safe and accommodating environment that welcomes people of all abilities and encourages them to accomplish even more than they first thought possible.
Our day recreation program, Club Rec, is unique in the region and is community unto itself. Many of our members have been participants for more than 10 years. Therapeutic recreation specialists who are passionate about “the whole person” provide a variety of recreational and leisure activities, as well as community outings, that enhance our members’ social, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being.
Another benefit of our fitness and recreation services is the collaboration that takes place between our team members and Sheltering Arms Institute physical, occupational, and speech therapists. Individuals participating in or who have completed their course of therapy services can continue their recovery journey through our programs, confident that their unique needs will be conveyed to our team members. And like Sheltering Arms Institute, we reduce barriers to entry by offering financial assistance to those who qualify.
