SPORTS INJURY THERAPY FAQs

Understanding sports injury therapy

Sports injury therapy consists primarily of individualized physical therapy, designed to support the rehabilitation of and recovery from a specific injury incurred while playing a sport or other activity.

The length of sports therapy depends on the nature and degree of the injury and, if applicable, a surgeon’s recommendation. Therapy can last anywhere from a few weeks to six months or more.

Treatments offered for sports injuries at Sheltering Arms Institute are individually designed and may include a mix of physical therapies such as weight training, stretching, aquatherapy, dry needling, and more.

If you are currently under the care of a physician for your sports injury, you will need a doctor’s note in order to be treated. A copy of our referral form can be found on our Refer a Patient page. However, direct access allows some patients to seek outpatient services without a physician referral. Visit our direct access page for more information.
