What is Parkinson's Disease?

Parkinson’s Disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that attacks the brain’s dopaminergic neurons, specifically in the substantia nigra region.

As these nerve cells become damaged or die off, we begin to see the signs and symptoms listed below. Over time, these symptoms progressively worsen. Currently, the cause of this disease is unknown and there is no cure for PD but by incorporating our proven therapy methods, we can help you or a loved one manage this disease and live a more productive life.

What Are the Symptoms of Parkinson's Disease?

  • Tremors: Trembling or shaking can occur throughout the body, commonly in the arms, hands, legs, neck and head.
  • Delayed or Slow Movement: Movement becomes limited and you may find it harder to continue many activities of daily living.
  • Changes in Speech: Slurring or stuttering may become more apparent when speaking. Others may also begin to talk softer or at a more rapid pace.
  • Stiff or Rigid Muscles: This can reduce your range of motion and increase pain in these areas.
  • Vestibular & Balance Distortion: This can increase the risk of falls and injury.
  • Depression & Emotional Pain: This debilitating disease not only can affect you physically but mentally as well with the gradual build-up of physical hardships.
