In addition, Sheltering Arms earned Disease-Specific Care Certification in Stroke Rehabilitation by The Joint Commission – with no recommendations for improvement. Certification and the Gold Seal of Approval™ from The Joint Commission mean that Sheltering Arms’ stroke rehabilitation program complies with the highest national standards for safety and quality of care.

In 2017, for the 3rd consecutive year, Sheltering Arms was chosen as a Top Workplaces of Richmond, awarded by the Richmond Times Dispatch.
Also in 2017, four of our nurses won “Nurse of the Year” awards, given by March of Dimes. These nurses ranged in categories from Infection Control & Occupational Health, Quality & Risk Management, and Long Term Acute Care & Long Term Rehab.
We were also honored recently as one of “The Achievers 50 Most Engaged Workplaces™ in the United States.” This annual award recognizes employers that display leadership and innovation toward engaging their employees. With this award, Sheltering Arms joins the ranks of some very large and well known companies, such as Zappos, Cisco Systems, Inc. and Alcoa.
We were recognized twice in 2015 for both the Amputee Coalition, for peer support with limb loss, and the American Heart Association Start! Award, for employee engagement and fitness levels.
Recently we were recognized with the Work-Life Seal of Distinction for 2014 as designated by WorldatWork’s Alliance for Work-Life Progress.
Our dedicated case managers were awarded with a Case in Point Platinum Award in 2012. This program honors the programs and professionals that best educate and empower patients, improve adherence and wellness, ensure quality care and contain healthcare costs.
