MD, Medical Director Dr. Silver is the Medical Director for Sheltering Arms Hospital - South. His primary clinical interests include rehabilitation of neurological disorders, sports medicine, management of work-related injuries, and management and treatment of acute orthopaedic injuries. Dr. Silver received his medical degree from the East Carolina University School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at Yale University. He completed his physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at the Medical College of Virginia. Prior to joining Sheltering Arms in 2005, Dr. Silver was employed by the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System and the McGuire VA Medical Center where he was Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

In addition to his role at Sheltering Arms, Dr. Silver also serves as Director of Sports Medicine and Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for St. Francis Medical Center. He is a Member-at-Large on the Board of Directors for the American Association of Professional Ringside Physicians. He is also a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. In addition, Dr. Silver volunteers as a team physician for local high schools, has been the team physician for the USA Kickboxing team, and has held the position of Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board for the World Kickboxing Association. Dr. Silver served as an athletic care physician at the Summer Olympics and Paralympics in Athens and traveled to Torino, Italy to serve as a physician for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games.
