The adaptive sports programs at Sheltering Arms offer education and opportunities for safe and enjoyable participation in your favorite sports.

Adaptive Golf Program

The goal of the adaptive golf program at Sheltering Arms is to encourage individuals with physical challenges and the community as a whole to pursue golf as a lifelong leisure activity. Recreation Therapists hold golf clinics and annual tournaments at local driving ranges and golf courses. The therapists and golf professionals are available at each event to provide you with golf instruction and recommend adaptations for you to play successfully.

Our Recreation Therapists have helped people with arthritis, brain injury, back pain, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s disease, amputations and other illness or injury learn and/or return to the game of golf.

For more information, or to register for the next clinic or tournament, call 804-764-1000.

Adaptive Bowling League

The Sheltering Arms adaptive bowling league is designed to help you learn or re-learn to bowl following illness or injury. Clinics are held the second Tuesday of each month from October through May and the season ends with an annual tournament. Recreational Therapists and volunteers are available to offer assistance and instruction using adaptive equipment as needed.

If you enjoy bowling, this program is for you! You can join at any point throughout the season. Simply call 804-764-1000 to register.
